This ice cream dough might look good enough to eat, but it’s made to be played with! If kept in a properly sealed ziplock bag, it should last forever! If it gets hard or dry, you can bring it back to life with a few drops of water, and add in a little bit of icing sugar if it gets too sticky. Little ones will love squishing the dough, and decorating their pretend ice cream sundaes! I know we did.
Things you’ll need
- One container of premade vanilla icing
- Food colouring (2)
- 3 3/4 cups Icing sugar
- Spatula
Mix the whole container of premade icing into a bowl, folding it with a spatula. Add the icing sugar bit by bit. We added one 1/4 cup at a time. You will know it is ready when the icing is no longer sticky. The icing is easier to mix with hands at later stages.
Add small amounts of food colouring at a time. Mix by hand onto a flat surface. Store in a ziplock bag to keep it from drying out.
Scoop the ice cream dough into cups or bowls, and go for it! Decorate with all kinds of craft supplies! We love glitter, pom poms, buttons, sprinkles, jewels, and foam shapes!
Once you have your ice cream pieces ready to go, pretend to open up your own Ice Cream Parlor and create orders with our Restaurant Pretend Play Order Forms! You can make special sundaes for your customers just like Caitie!
