Let’s party like it’s New Year’s Eve! There’s nothing quite like a New Year’s Eve party – the excitement and celebration are all around. Ring in the new year in style with our super celebratory party hats, perfect for New Year’s Eve or any celebration throughout the year. We have five creative styles to choose from, but the base for these party hats all start the same. So get out the paper and glue, and let’s get the party started!
Things you’ll need
- Hat template to cut the right shape for your hat – page 2 of the .pdf
- Card stock
- Scissors
- White glue
- Tape
- Elastic string to hold the hat in place.
- Stapler
- Decorations for your hat – we like ribbons, pom poms and pipe cleaners!
Steps
Trace the hat template onto a piece of card stock and cut it out.
Add some glue to the tabs on the sides and stick them together to make a party hat shape. You can reinforce the glue with some tape on the inside of the hat if you need to!
Pick one of five different ways to decorate your hat. What festive feeling will you go for: Fireworks Celebration, Confetti Party, 321 Countdown, New Year’s Eve Sparkle, or New Year Cheer? Feel free to add the year you are ringing in onto your hat with markers or number stickers!
Fireworks Celebration
We made fireworks by twisting small lengths of pipe cleaners together. We shaped them and glued them to the hat. We also used some Christmas garland to trim the hat!
Confetti Party
Paint the confetti party hat with glue and sprinkle sequins and glitter on it. Twist some pipe cleaners together and glue your firework shape to the top of the hat for extra pizazz!
321 Countdown
We used number and star stickers to decorate this hat and topped it with a fun pom pom.
New Year’s Eve Sparkle
We used jewel stickers to create some sparkle for this hat! The base is trimmed with garland. At the top we glued a pom pom made out of Christmas ribbon. Cut a bunch of ribbon into lengths and stack them together. Attach the ends of the ribbon together and place into the top of the hat!
New Year’s Cheer
On this happy hat we used colorful pom poms and glued them all over. On the top we glued two pom poms on top of each other!
Add an elastic cord to your hat so you can secure it to your head while wearing it. Staple an elastic cord to one side of the hat and tie a knot around the staple so there is some protection between the staple and your skin. Then place the hat on your head and repeat the process on the other side, so that hat is perfectly fitted to your head.
