Move over, Bingo! It’s Santa’s time to shine! We’ve reimagined the classic game of BINGO and gave it a Christmas twist with this printable game perfect for the classroom, at home, or a cozy Christmas party with friends. SANTA Bingo is full of festive fun and it’s great vocabulary practice for Christmas words! Get your young players involved in the process by having them make their own game board, then get out your game pieces and you’re ready to play! We’ll show you how.
Things You’ll Need
To make your game boards:
- SANTA Bingo Printable
- Scissors
- Glue
To play the game:
- Game pieces or something to cover your game board – this way you can reuse your game boards! Coins, game tokens, or cut out pieces of sturdy paper work great!
- A bowl for the Christmas square cut-outs.
Steps To Make Your Game Board
Print out the SANTA Bingo printable. There are two game boards on the second page of the printable and enough Christmas cut-outs to cover the both game boards on the first page. Print out as many as you need – for example, to make 10 game boards you’ll need to print the entire printable 5 times.
Cut the Christmas square cut-outs first into strips, then into individual pieces. You can place the strips on top of each other to cut a few at a time to make the process quicker. You can also have your players cut out the pieces depending on their skill level.
Once all the pieces are cut out, it’s time to glue them onto the game board! We find it’s easier to glue the pieces on the game board on the printable before cutting it out, but if you have each player making their own game board we suggest cutting the printable in half so everyone can have their own to make.
Have your players randomly glue the Christmas square cut-outs onto the squares of their game board until they are full.
Cut out the game boards and you’re ready to play!
How To Play Santa Bingo
Print the first page of the Santa Bingo printable – you’ll need a set of the Christmas square cut-out pieces to play. Cut them out and place them inside a bowl, mixing them up.
Select a Christmas square from the bowl one at a time and call it out to your players. If they have that piece on their game board, they can place a token on it. Continue until someone has a Santa Bingo and calls out “Santa!”
Once someone has a Santa Bingo you can double-check their game board and award a small prize. The person who won could also take a turn selecting the Christmas square pieces from the bowl for the next round!
You can decide as a group whether a Santa Bingo will be four in a row, a shape like an L or square, or covering the entire game board! You can choose a different way of getting a Santa Bingo each time you play and exchange game boards with other players to keep the game feeling fresh.
We ho-ho-hope you have fun playing together!
