We love to dance, spin and twirl! And so do these colorful dancing spinner crafts! They are simple to make, fun to play with and you can decorate them anyway you like making all different kinds! Try making different shapes – how does that change the way it spins? Or make different designs and see what it looks like when you spin them. How long can you make it spin for? Have a spinning contest with different spinners and see which is the last one standing! There is lots of fun to be had, but first, let’s make them.
*The assistance of an adult is needed for the last two steps.
Things you need
- Colored card stock or thick paper
- Something to trace a circle – a bowl or plate works great
- Scissors
- coloring pencils, crayons or markers for decorating
- Stickers to decorate (optional)
- Craft knife
- A coin – a penny or nickel works great
- Hot glue gun
Steps
Trace a bowl on a piece of colored card stock or thick paper. You can experiment with different shapes and circle sizes, but we found that circles no bigger than 4.5” wide make the best spinners.
Cut out the circles.
Decorate your spinner! Use any colors you like. Add stickers for extra flare! Experiment with different designs.
With help from an adult, use a craft knife to carefully cut a small slit the length of your coin in the centre of the circle.
Insert the penny into the slot and add some hot glue to the bottom of the spinner on either side of the coin to secure it into place.
Time to spin!
