Roll ‘em, it’s movie night! Planning a movie night is super fun for the whole family, especially when the weather is not so hot. Kids love thinking ahead and planning the perfect snack combination, choosing their favorite movie, and counting down the days, hours, and minutes until showtime. Build even more anticipation with a movie night snack tray craft! And to sweeten the pot, students can make these as Valentine’s Day gifts for their parents to have a movie night together, aww. Let’s get crafty and personalise our cereal box snack trays!
Things you’ll need
- Cereal box
- Masking tape
- Construction paper
- Decorative tape
- Paper bag
- Paper cup
- Paper straw
- Paper cupcake container
- Craft knife
- Pen
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Ruler
Steps
Start with a clean cereal box that’s taped closed. To cover the box, choose some construction paper and trace the box. Here, the construction paper covers one face and both sides.
Trace and cut any other sides of the box that need covering.
Use your glue stick to cover the box and the construction paper. Stick the paper down, ensuring it sticks securely.
Next, use decorative tape to seal and secure the edges and add some fancy detail.
Lay out the popcorn bag, drinking cup, and candy cup on the tray the way you would like. First, trace the bottom of the paper bag.
Next, trace the bottoms of the drinking cup and the candy cup. TIP: If the cups are tapered, cut a circle shape that is smaller than the top and larger than the bottom. That way the cup will be secure in the snack tray.
Grownups, get ready to help. Carefully cut the shapes out using the craft knife. You can cut an “x” pattern in the centre of each shape if that’s easier.
Kids can help! Decorate the tray with stickers and markers. Fit the bag and cups into the tray and fill them with your favorite snacks!
