- Use this song to prepare children for going to bed on Christmas Eve.
- Play it in the background while making cookies!
- Role play making cookies as a class, pretending to add in different ingredients. You can make some silly cookies, too!
- Play cookies make great counters! For some fun Christmas counting practice, having one student pretend to be Santa and have them ask for a certain number of cookies. The other students can count out the cookies for him! Once Santa is full, they can pick another student to pretend to be Santa.
- Other great way to turn this song into a game is with a tic tac toe board, but instead of using Xs and Os, use cut outs of milk and cookies! Pair up your students and have them play each other to try and get tic tac toe, three in a row! Here is a printable for this activity!
- Leaving out milk and cookies is just one of many traditions at Christmas time. Ask your students what other traditions they have with their families. You can also talk about other holidays that are celebrated at this time and what traditions are a part of those celebrations, too!
