We have an adorable personalized Christmas gift idea for anyone feeling extra crafty! Use a photo of that special someone and a backdrop printout from our seasonal song “At the North Pole” to create some snow globe magic!
Things you’ll need
- Backdrop printout
- 4” clear plastic ornaments (one half)
- Empty yogurt cup
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun with glue
- Portrait photo (playing in the snow looks great!)
- Large glitter (optional)
- Craft paint
- Small piece of cardboard
- Ribbon
NOTE: Hot glue is required for this project.
Start by cutting out your backgrounds from the printout, preferably on thick card stock. Choose your personal outdoor photo or head shot. Size, print and cut out the image to fit in the plastic dome. (Keep in mind the image will be raised.)
Trim the bottom of your photo so it matches the round shape of the globe. You can use your circle background as a template!
Make a spacer between the photo and your background with a small piece of cardboard or foam.
Glue your photo, spacer and background together.
Add some large white glitter to the inside of the dome. Carefully add hot glue around the top edge of the printed background.
Quickly place it on top of the dome and hold it in place while the glue sets.
To make the snow globe base, cut a yogurt container in half.
On the bottom of the cup, trim away the middle leaving a border. Test the yogurt container to fit the curve of the globe. Once you have a good fit, paint the bottom of your snow globe with craft paint and set it aside to dry. Use hot glue to stick the base to the bottom of the dome.
Tie a festive ribbon through the top loop to hang on your tree or add a magnet to the back to stick on your fridge!
