Things you’ll need
- Construction paper
- Glue stick
- Paper straws
- Paper plate
- Craft paint
- Cotton swabs
- Bottle caps, foam stickers
Choose a piece of construction paper for the base of your kite. Prepare some shades of paint on a paper plate.
Use cotton swabs to paint colors onto the stamps and have fun stamping some spring and summer inspired patterns.
Other ways to make stamps include: using the end of a pencil for polkadots, clipping a pom pom to a clothespin, cutting out fun shapes from a potato or apple or trimming some sponges into fun shapes.
Let your kite stamp art dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Fold the piece of paper in half lengthwise.
Fold the two top corners together to the centre line.
Fold the sides in towards the centre to create a diamond shape.
Flip the paper over to reveal the diamond shape you have made and use scissors to cut it out.
Your kite is already taking shape!
Now it’s time to add the straws. You will need a glue stick and some scissors.
Glue your first straw down lengthwise. Glue your second and third straws down and trim off the excess length.
Use a colorful pipe cleaner for the tail of your kite. Fold the tip of the pipe cleaner down and add some glue. Place it inside the straw.
Add some colorful ribbons and bows to your pipe cleaner. Shape your kite tail so the kite looks like it’s flying in the wind.
Beautiful job! Decorate the classroom, bedroom, front window or refrigerator with some spring and summer flair.
Have even more fun with stamp crafts!
