Do you hear that? Could it be? Do you hear some little dancing feet? Listen closely. Why, it’s… Santa and his reindeer!
Now you can act out the song “Up On The Housetop” and get creative with our Santa & Reindeer play set with dancing legs! All you will need are the free printable resources and a few other supplies listed below. Let’s get started!
Things you’ll need
- Housetop with Santa & Reindeer Printable Resource
- Scissors
- Clear tape
- White glue
- Black Beads
- Red and brown yarn
- 2 Straws
Get started by cutting out your Santa and reindeer.
Using some tape, attach a straw to the back of Santa. Attach both of the reindeer to the second straw. Be sure to leave a little bit of straw at the end so you can hold it like a handle. (You can use some glue to reinforce the straw if you like.)
Now let’s make the legs! For this step you will be cutting some lengths of yarn, two for Santa and eight in total for his two reindeer. NOTE: You can make the legs as long as you like, we just recommend adding 2 inches so you have some extra yarn to tie a knot at the end. The extra will be trimmed away later.
Once the lengths are cut, tie a few knots at the bottom of each leg. Add a dab of white glue to the knot before sliding the bead down and securing it in place. Trim the extra yarn.
When the legs are dry, line them up so they hang at the same length and attach them to the back of your characters with a piece of clear tape. You can trim away any extra string or yarn.
Now let’s make the housetop! Start by cutting it out from your resource sheet and fold along the lines indicated.
Stick the bottom flaps together with glue and attach the chimney to the back of the roof with a spot of glue.
Once your play set is dry, you are ready to sing and dance and make your very own music video!
Lyrics to Up On The Housetop
Sing along!
Up on the housetop reindeer pause.
Out jumps good old Santa Claus.
Down through the chimney, with lots of toys.
All for the little ones’ Christmas joys.
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click.
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick.
First come the stockings in a row.
Filled with goodies top to toe.
Then to the tree old Santa springs,
To place the presents that he brings.
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click.
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick.
Everything delivered from his sack.
Santa has a cookie snack.
Back to the reindeer and the sleigh.
Into the night they fly away.
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click.
Down through the chimney with old Saint Nick.
