Things You’ll Need
- Construction paper: purple, red, green and yellow
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Large popsicle sticks
- Bottle cap for tracing
- Bowl for tracing
- Markers: red, black, brown, purple, and green
Steps
Mmm! A banana!
To make the banana, start by finding a small plate or bowl to trace. Our bowl is about 6” in diameter. This will make the shape and curve of the banana super easy to make. Use a brown marker and trace the bottom curve of the plate into a yellow piece of construction paper.
Then move the bowl up and trace it again to make the the top curve of the banana.
Next, draw in all the details like a line going up the center, the stalk and the bottom end.
Cut the banana out. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!
Mmm! An apple!
To make the apple, start by making a symmetrical apple shape to trace. You can do that by folding a regular piece of paper in half and cutting out a half of an apple shape. Then unfold to reveal a perfectly symmetrical apple shape!
Trace the apple shape onto a red piece of construction paper with a red marker. We made our apple red, but apples can be green or yellow, too!
Cut the apple shape out.
Add in extra detail to make your apple complete, like a cut out stem and leaf. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!
Mmm! Grapes!
To make the grapes, start by finding a bottle cap or something else circular that you can trace to make perfect circles. The bottle cap we used is about 1.5” in diameter. Trace a bottle cap multiple times with a purple marker on two tones of purple construction paper. These will be your grapes!
Cut out all the circles.
Next, overlap and glue the circles together with a glue stick to make a bunch of grapes.
Cut out some leaf shapes and a stem from green construction paper and glue them to the top of grapes.
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!
Mmm! Watermelon!
To make the watermelon, take your red piece of construction and cut out a triangle shape with a rounded bottom.
For the green rind, overlap and glue your red piece on top of a lighter green sheet of construction paper. Cut out a curve that follows along the curve of your red piece.
Do the same thing again onto a darker green piece of construction paper. Trim the sides and cut the paper following curve.
Use a black marker to draw in the watermelon seeds. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!
Our fruits are almost ready to play! Glue popsicle sticks to the back of each fruit piece so you can hold them up and play with them as you listen to the song, Are You Hungry?
