Make some noise, it’s a new year! No matter what your new year’s resolution may be, you can always find time to shake along to some happy music! Kids will enjoy decorating their shakers and personalising them for party time. If you want to shake, shake, shake with us, let’s get started!
Things you’ll need
- 2 small paper plates
- Glue gun
- Beans or rice
- Craft paint
- Pencil
- Paint brush
- Tissue paper
- Scissors
- Tape
Steps
First, paint the underside of your paper plates. Choose fun colors! Set them aside to dry.
Now it’s time to decorate! Use the ends of a pencil to make a polka dot pattern on your shaker. You can write the year on your paper plates or decorate with other shapes and patterns.
Make some tissue paper tassels to make your shaker move and come to life! Start by layering some pieces of tissue paper. To get a frayed edge, make small cuts along the side of your sections. Make sure not to cut all the way through.
Roll these sheets of tissue paper together to create a bundle. Tape it at the end to hold it in place.
Use a glue gun to stick these bundles to the bottom edge of the plate.
Add approximately 2 tablespoons of dried beans. This is just enough to rattle nicely and not be too heavy to shake.
Add glue around the rim of the paper plate and stick the second paper plate on top. Press firmly so they stick together. Add extra glue around the edges so it’s sealed nicely.
Now it’s time to party and shake with us! Happy New Year!
